Is Shared Web Hosting Right For You?

Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

There are more than a few web hosts out there trying to get your business. Because of this you may find it hard to choose the one that will meet your requirements. You will not only have all these different companies to choose from but you will also have to decide on which type of web hosting to choose whether it be free, shared or dedicated web hosting. Your specific needs will be the basis on which you choose the ideal web host.

For most people shared web hosting is the service of choice. Free web hosting has many disadvantages in that it creates and unprofessional appearance of your site while dedicated web hosting can just be too expensive for many. Shared hosting on the other hand, has many benefits. With shared web hosting your site will be allocated a space on a server along with many other customers’ sites. Each site on the server will have its own amount of space. Shared web hosting is the perfect option for blogs, small businesses and blogs. All sites on the server will share the resources of the server.

The price of shared web hosting gives it another advantage. Even though there is a charge, as opposed to free web hosting, there is no disadvantage of your site looking unprofessional. If you want reliability and a professional service then you should choose shared web hosting. You may find it cheaper to sign up with a shared host for a year or two but you would probably be better off refraining from these types of offers until you have some experience using a particular web host and are completely happy with them.

Because shared web hosting is the most popular choice there are a lot of companies out there which will give you a great service and will guarantee almost constant uptime. There should be a package available which will suit the needs of almost all website owners.

Whenever you make your decision to enter the big, bad world of internet marketing, you should really have hosting sorted out. The web hosting world can be a confusing one though for a newbie. For example, you may come across reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting on your travels.

How To Choose The Best Web Host

Friday, December 25th, 2009

It may be a confusing task for to choose a web host for those with little experience of doing online businesses. Getting the best web host is extremely important as web hosting is critical for every internet based business. However when looking for a good web host there are certain things which you should be looking for.

You should decide what your requirements are before thinking about a web host. The requirements of a small business will not be the same as those of a large business. Knowing what your requirements are before you begin your web host search is important. One of the more important features of web hosting is how reliable they are. Uptime should be almost continuous and speed is also an essential element when deciding on a good web host. Customers and visitors to a web site need to be able to access it at all times to ensure that business thrives.

You should always make sure that your web host can provide you with the correct amount of space plus thirty to forty percent more to cover you in the case of emergencies. It is also important that expansion is covered. You should also make sure that your web host provides you with good customer care and top quality technical support. Good web hosts will be on hand at any hour of the day to help you get through any difficulties you may be experiencing.

If you are a ‘newbie’ then you will be looking for a web hosting service which is user friendly and easy to navigate. This will mean that it will be easier for you to get off the ground and will limit the amount of contact you will need to make to your web host. Probably one of the major considerations for anyone looking to employ the services of a web host is the cost. Free web hosting may not be as beneficial as it sounds as others will view your site in a negative manner. As with most other things in life with web hosting, you get what you pay for. There are numerous web hosts which offer a good quality service at an affordable price.

When you decide to go into internet marketing, you should make sure that you have web hosting dealt with beforehand. The web hosting world can be a confusing one though for a newbie. For instance, you could find reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting while searching different options.

Who Else Wants World Class Web Hosting?

HostGator is a world leading provider of shared, reseller and dedicated web hosting. Why do I like HostGator?

Well first of all, they are based in Houston, Texas, it is a privately held company, with a full in-house support team of over 150 industry veterans. I can tell you personally that I have reseller web hosting with HostGator, and they have been as service oriented and responsive as any company I have ever dealt with.

You see, when I first started in the web hosting field, I had shared reseller hosting with a company that cost me $34.95 each month, and only offered 4 gig of disk space and an equally puny amount of bandwidth.

And, when I started having problems with the stats programs on my sites, I guessed I was just about out of luck. Finally, when my email service inquiries were ignored, I knew I had to find a new provider

At the time, I had upwards of 30 sites with my provider, and I dreaded the cost and the time consuming process of downloading all my folders, databases and pages, and then ftp’ing everything up to my new provider.

So you can imagine how happy I was to find out that HostGator would not only take care oif all my transfers, that they would transfer my sites for free!

Now don’t get me wrong, there were a few bumps in the road, but with one of their well trained support techs holding your hand in a live chat session, any issues got ironed out within minutes, in some cases seconds!

Reseller Hosting Starts at .95.95 is an incredible deal, you get a whole lot of disk space and band width, and just about unlimited domains as well. (Of course you do have to pay for the domain name, ethrough HostGator or another domain name reseller.)

And, unlike cell phone companies or cable companies, or most other we hosting companies, they don’t hold you hostage with a long term hosting plan.

Customers are not required to sign up for any contract longer than month to month service. They don’t charge you any annoying setup fees on any of their plans. That is just one of the many reasons they have one of the highest conversion and retention ratios in the industry.

Based on my own experience, its unlikely you will find your partnership with HostGator to be anything less than extremely pleasant and businesslike.

You don’t have to take my word for it, after all, HostGator provides over 150,000 customers with innovative products and services designed to complement their existing businesses. I've been in the business world for quite some time, and that kind of volume and customer loyalty is no flukeI've been in the business world for quite some time, and that kind of volume and customer loyalty isn't accidental!

From freelancers, to Fortune 500 companies in more than 170 countries worldwide, HostGator has an outstanding growth rate each day. In 2008, HostGator was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America.

According to Inc. Magazine, HostGator is the 21st fastest growing private company in America, the second fastest growing private company in the “business services” sector, and the fastest growing private company in Texas.

Maybe I am repeating myself, but you don't have that much success without good reason. If you need quality web hosting with instantaneous customer service, Hostgator can’t be beat.

Reseller Web Hosting Reviews

When it comes to reseller web hosting, based upon my personal experience, I can definitely recommend HostGator. Here's why.

When I first started hosting multiple web sites with reseller web hosting, I used a service that I had found at Clickbank, that was actually a referral from a very useful program I used, and I set up all my sites through my main reseller site  Cheap Easy Web Hosting.com.

At the beginning, the service met my needs quite well. But as the number of sites I created grew, I started to bump up against the overhead of the old service, it was pretty slow to manage my sites through WHM (more about Web Host Manager later). The stats program was getting buggy, and I couldn't get a response from the support email. To be fair, with a little bit of research it looks like the people involved with the first reseller web hosting service I used have addressed some of these issues with a new service. However, my issues still remained with the original reseller web hosting company.

I was wasting quite a bit of time, therefore I looked around and did a few searches on reseller web hosting. The most prevalent service that I found was Hostgator.com. In contrast to my previous reseller web hosting provider, HostGator offered 24 Gigs a month for $24.95. The previous reseller web hosting provider offered 4 Gigs for $37.95. My previous provider offered exactly “zero” templates, did not provide SiteBuilder, or Site Build it. As far as service goes, my previous provider had only email support. To be fair, when I first started out with them in 2005, the email support was very responsive. No matter how many times I emailed support, I just never got a reply. In contrast, HostGator offered instantaneous response through online chat, for sales, service and technical support.

Not only that, I have found, at least subjectively, that both WHM, and Control Panel, both for my main site, and the other sites I host , has been much faster. Bottom Line? If you want to host multiple sites for affiliate marketing, or want to actually resell web hosting services, HostGator is an excellent service, it’s really head and shoulders above any other services I have tried.
